Why is it important to handle greyhound puppies when their eyes are not even open yet?

There has been a lot of research done on the handling of puppies at a very young age and the results are astounding. Even though a puppies eyes may not be open, they still recognize from your feel and scent that you are not their mother. By handling them, they become comfortable with the feel of your hands and will recognize your feel and not become afraid of you when they begin to grow. It has been proven that by handling a puppy every day for only 30 seconds will dramatically decrease the chances that your puppy will become disobedient or "touchy".

When  should I begin to teach my greyhound puppy to become lead broke?

We recommend that you put a puppy collar on your puppy at 10-12 weeks of age. It is very easy to lead break your puppy at this age versus if you wait until they are older, wiser and more stubborn. Once you get them to lead properly always reward them and talk to them at eye level so they know that they did something good and want to repeat it in the future. You can purchase your collars and leads direct from Kennel Supply, LLC.

Why is it so important to feed meat to a greyhound and when should I introduce it to them?

Meat builds muscle mass and tone and it is also a natural food because greyhounds are a carnivore. We like to feed Hill's Science Diet canned Puppy Formula starting at 3-4 weeks of age mixed with water for texture. We then start to add Jack Mackerel at 4-5 weeks of age to increase the Omega 3 fatty acids which is so vital to canine health. At about 6-7 weeks of age we discontinue the Hill's Science Diet and use a meat and mackerel blend with your choice of a dry puppy food mixed together. You can purchase your Jack Mackerel and your Hill's Science Diet canned Puppy Formula direct from Kennel Supply, LLC.

Why is it important to feed greyhound puppies more than once a day?

We feel it is very important to feed puppies as much as they will eat, therefore we recommend feeding them at least 2 times a day with their mix. We also like to feed milk in between meals with milk or a milk replacer for added calcium and bone health. you can purchase your milk replacer direct from Kennel Supply, LLC.
